Trainers keep athletes on their toes - and in the game. But, when things get slow around the sports medicine department, there's nothing wrong with shooting a little video to promote the profession.
Jared Miller and Pratik Banjade started the "Athletic Trainer as Celebrity" trend when they accepted the challenge from their professors at James Madison University to create a video that would celebrate the athletic training profession. Miller and Banjade came up with "Smooth Professional" - a video that has been viewed on YouTube over 76,000 times.
For their efforts, Miller and Banjade attained a little rock star status at the 2010 NATA show in Philadephia. They've since gone on to higher pursuits in the athletic training profession; but their torch has been passed to tne next generation of aspiring athletic trainers.
Enter Matthew Mendel, Bailey Blakemore, and Alisa Resnick - Athletic Training students at Ohio University. They've created their own video, entering it in a contest sponsored by the National Athletic Training Student Committee. The ultimate winners of the video contest will be recognized at the 2011 NATA show in New Orleans this June.
We just want to say congratulations to Jared, Pratik, Matthew, Bailey, and Alisa for exercising some awesome creativity in your education - and shedding some nice light on the athletic training profession. You guys will go far!
We also want to publicly thank both James Madison University and Ohio University for producing such fine students - AND showing some incredible acumen when it comes to selecting rehab equipment (Ohio has used our Shuttle 2000-1 since 2000 and James Madison has used our Shuttle MVP since 2009 - just thought we'd throw that in).
Thanks for thinking Shuttle!
